About
I am a freelance designer based in Cleveland. I’m a proud member of USA Local 829 Scenic Designer, with extensive experience in set design as well as properties design, fabrication, and supervision, across theatre, film, television, commercial projects, and higher education,
I am a passionate teacher with experience in classroom and online instruction. I deeply understand modern teaching paradigms, multiple learning styles, multiculturalism, and collaboration within professional learning communities. I have developed courses, taught extensively on theatrical design, and mentored production students in the shop. I focus on all aspects of design and production, from script analysis, paperwork, and organization to research, sourcing, procurement, and fabrication. I thrive on creative problem-solving, budgeting, and design and fabrication.
I have a diverse portfolio of design work, ranging from opera, theatre, film, commercial work, and trade events. My unconventional and innovative approach to design has enabled me to expand my design vocabulary to meet the needs of a vast range of directorial styles making me popular with producers, directors, and design colleagues.
I am also known for developing a new, low-cost, non-staining, non-fiber reactive stage blood recipe that has been used in theaters across the country. My recipe was included in Jennifer McClure’s book, Bloody Brilliant: How to Develop, Execute, and Clean Up Blood Effects for Live Performance, as well as an article in a professional publication.I am also responsible for the chapter on props in Stage Craft Fundamentals —4th Edition.
I’m a proud Jewish American, an ally, open-minded, with a strong affinity for diversity, inclusion, and the creation of art as a safe space for all people to express their individuality.
